THE BRIEF
Why did they check in
under a different name?
On the 8th of November a couple takes Cottage 9 at a hill retreat in the Sahyadris. Cash, no ID, registered as "Mr & Mrs Verma." Two days later the cottage is silent. Their luggage, phones and wallets are still in it. They are not.
The police let it go cold. Someone wants it reopened, and the file lands on your table.
